Description

CroxX Urease Inhibitor 25 – NBPT 25 % urease inhibitor

Benefits of using CroxX inhibitor:

  • Action exclusively targeted at the urease enzyme in the soil, no toxic effect on soil microorganisms
  • NBPT substance is registered in the EU as a fertiliser, decomposes in the soil into its constituent elements (N, P, C, H, S)
  • No reduction in NBPT effectiveness observed with repeated application on the same field
  • Substance significantly increases the efficiency of urea and RSM fertilisation (improves nitrogen use efficiency by at least 20 %)
  • The product adheres very well to urea granules and perfectly combines with RSM.

CroxX Urease Inhibitor 25 is a urease inhibitor designed to increase the efficiency of nitrogen fertilisation. It delays the conversion of nitrogen in the amide form to the ammonium form. This allows nitrogen to move deeper into the root zone of plants (the amide form is mobile in the soil while the ammonium form is not, so if nitrogen is maintained longer in the amide form, it reaches the root zone; if hydrolysis occurs on the soil surface, nitrogen remains very shallow) and reduces nitrogen losses as ammonia (which in extreme cases can amount to even 70-80 % of nitrogen, according to Trenkel 2010).

CroxX Urease Inhibitor contains the globally recognised NBPT urease inhibitor (N-butyl thiophosphoric triamide).

How does the NBPT urease inhibitor work?

Urease inhibitors are substances that slow down the hydrolysis of urea by the urease enzyme. Urease is an enzyme present in soils worldwide. It is not leached from soils and is active over a wide temperature range from -20 to +70 degrees Celsius. Urea hydrolysis (conversion from the amide form to the ammonium form, which plants absorb) occurs thanks to urease. Urease activity increases with rising soil temperature (therefore, the warmer the soil, the "faster the action" of urea). Urea hydrolysis is necessary but causes significant gaseous nitrogen losses due to ammonia volatilisation. This is especially intense when urea is applied on the soil surface. Ammonia volatilisation can damage germinating seedlings or seeds, reducing plant vigour and germination capacity. Moreover, these are significant economic losses for farms. Crox Urease Inhibitor 25 is a substance that allows us to eliminate or significantly reduce these problems.

How should CroxX product be stored?

Application and dosage

CroxX combination

Dosage

CroxX with RSM

1 l/1000 kg RSM (higher risk of nitrogen losses means higher dose)

0.5-1 l/1000 kg RSM (lower risk of nitrogen losses, dose can be reduced)

CroxX with urea

2-3 l Crox/1000 kg fertiliser

2-3 l Crox/1000 kg fertiliser

The longer the storage of urea coated with the inhibitor, the higher the recommended Crox dose. When applying Crox to urea (concrete mixers) directly before spreading urea, a lower Crox dose is sufficient.
