Description

  • vegetation period approx. 140-150 days
  • new variety recommended for the fresh market and long-term storage (high resistance to cavity spot (Pythium)), tolerant of moderate moisture conditions
  • cylindrical roots, very smooth, crack-resistant, with high resistance to silvering (after washing), cortex and core intensively coloured
  • foliage with very high disease tolerance; vigorous growth; remains on plants even with delayed harvest timings allowing mechanical harvesting

Variety recommended for producers expecting very high total and marketable yield of long, well-shaped roots. Roots do not tend to expose or green the crown until the end of the vegetation period – producers have particularly noted this trait, directly stating that this variety "draws itself" into the soil. Very high crack resistance combined with smoothness allows fully mechanical harvesting and preparation for sale – additionally, it does not silver after washing, thus maintaining freshness and an attractive appearance for traders and consumers for a long time. High tolerance to variable growing conditions is also observed – soil, moisture, stresses such as drought, high temperatures, or prolonged rainfall. Achieves very high yields on most sites. Sowing rate: for storage – 1.3-1.5 million seeds per ha; for sale during the vegetation period – 1.0–1.3 million per ha. Volcano has an ideal vegetation period for varieties intended for long-term storage. April sowing timing allows the best emergence and achieving very high yield in October, which coincides with the optimal carrot harvest period for storage. The variety does not require high fertilisation – moderate nitrogen fertilisation up to 120mg N/dm3 is recommended.
