Granulated Kalisop K+S potassium sulphate
Granulated K+S potassium sulphate is a highly concentrated two-component fertiliser containing 50% K2O (potassium oxide) and 44% SO3 (sulphur trioxide) in sulphate form.
Description
Granulated K+S potassium sulphate
50% water-soluble potassium oxide K2O
44% water-soluble sulphur trioxide SO3
Fertiliser characteristics:
- This is a highly concentrated two-component fertiliser containing 50% K2O and 44% SO3 in sulphate form.
- It is completely water-soluble, so potassium and sulphur are directly available to plants.
- Granulated K+S potassium sulphate is an ideal solution for crops sensitive to chlorides and salts (contains approx. 1.2% Cl).
- Compared to other potassium fertilisers, it has a low salt index and is especially suitable for intensive fertilisation of valuable special crops.
- According to EU Regulation No 2018/848 and EU Regulation 889/2008, Granulated K+S potassium sulphate is approved for use in organic farming and green area maintenance programmes.
- It is a hygroscopic fertiliser and thus easy to store.
Since 1 April 2020, the chloride content in the fertiliser has changed
Application:
- Due to its high sulphur content, it is used on sulphur-deficient sites and in crops with high sulphur demand, such as oilseed rape, black radish, alliums and cabbage crops. It also improves nitrogen utilisation.
- Ideal for crops with high sulphur demand. Sulphur increases nitrogen efficiency and positively affects yield quantity and quality.
- Potassium sulphate gives fruits and vegetables an intense colour. The content of flavour substances, sugar and acids is higher, enhancing their aroma and making them more attractive to consumers.
- It increases the durability of fruit and vegetable tissue, improving their storage, transport and processing properties.
Recommended fertilisation:
- Granulated K+S potassium sulphate is suitable for both basic and top dressing fertilisation. It is mainly used to prevent losses on sites prone to leaching in spring.
- The optimal amount of fertiliser depends on the potassium content of the growing medium, crop intensity and expected yields. The values below refer to fertilisation with good potassium availability in the growing medium and medium to high yield expectations.

Further information:
- Granulated K+S potassium sulphate – for crops sensitive to chlorides and salts
- Most fruit and vegetable crops are sensitive to chlorides, especially during germination and early development stages.
- Granulated K+S potassium sulphate is exceptionally effective in high-starch potato crops. Due to the low chloride content, assimilate transport from leaves to tubers can proceed without disruption. This allows achieving high yield potential of potatoes with high starch content.
- In intensive greenhouse and field crops, depending on water management, increased salt concentration in the soil solution may occur. This often leads to growth disturbances and yield reduction. Therefore, Granulated K+S potassium sulphate, due to its low salt index, is an ideal solution here.
Sulphur fertilisation:
- Reduction of sulphur emissions and the use of highly concentrated fertilisers with low sulphur content have led to sulphur deficiencies in soils in many regions.
- Sulphur deficiency causes symptoms similar to nitrogen deficiency, mainly leaf chlorosis. Depending on the nitrogen supply level, strong chlorosis occurs: on older leaves with insufficient nitrogen supply, and on young leaves with good nitrogen supply.
- Due to its significant sulphur content (44% SO3), Granulated K+S potassium sulphate is particularly useful for plants with high sulphur demand, such as oilseed rape, sunflower, cabbage species, onion, alliums, etc. Moreover, good sulphur supply improves effective nitrogen utilisation.
- Granulated K+S potassium sulphate contains sulphur in sulphate form, completely water-soluble and immediately available to plants. Fertilisation with potassium sulphate does not change soil pH.
