Leek Forrest is a variety primarily intended for winter cultivation. The plants overwinter very well in Polish conditions, even under a thin layer of snow, which allows them to be stored in the field until spring. With the arrival of higher temperatures, they show intensive growth, enabling quick and satisfactory yields.
The vegetation period is about 150 days, allowing the leek to reach a large commercial mass. Planting is recommended in the second half of May, and harvesting is carried out in autumn or after overwintering – in early spring. The recommended density is 140–160 thousand pcs/ha.
The variety is mainly intended for the fresh market, performs well and shows stable growth in variable autumn-winter conditions.
