Description

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NATAELO MAIZE VARIETY:

NATAELO is a modern single cross hybrid (SC) with FAO 260, registered in the EU in 2023, which perfectly meets farmers' expectations, being described as a “DENT FOR THE DEMANDING”. This variety combines a very high grain yield potential with traits that reduce post-harvest costs. The key advantage is the rapid grain moisture release rate and thin pericarp, resulting in minimal yield moisture content. NATAELO also guarantees crop stability thanks to a strong and deep root system, which provides excellent adaptability and high tolerance to stress conditions, such as mosaics and periodically dry soils.

Advantages of choosing NATAELO maize seeds:

- Profit Maximisation: Very high grain yield potential with minimised drying costs (low moisture at harvest).

- Exceptional Drying Dynamics: Rapid moisture release from dent-type grain, supported by a thin pericarp, facilitating harvest.

- Adaptation to Difficult Soils: Strong and deep root system enables cultivation on mosaics, sandy soils, and periodically dry sites.

- Reliable Spring Start: Good early growth vigour and uniform emergence ensure rapid vegetation start.

- Stability and Healthiness: Medium-tall plants, lodging resistant, with good stay green trait and high overall stand health.

NATAELO PARAMETERS AND PURPOSE:

FAO: 260 (medium-late variety).

Grain type: dent.

Cob type: flex (uniform).

Hybrid type: single cross (SC).

Usage direction: grain.

Cob structure: 14 rows, 36–38 grains per row.

MTZ (thousand grain weight): 300–320 g.

EU registration: 2023 (Breeder: KWS, Germany).

AGROTECHNICS AND CULTIVATION RECOMMENDATIONS:

Agronomic profile:

NATAELO features a medium-tall plant habit with high lodging resistance. Uniform flex-type cobs with a thin pericarp are key to high harvesting efficiency. The low number of rows (14) is compensated by a high number of grains per row (36–38) and a large thousand grain weight (300–320 g), which builds the final yield. A strong and deep root system is a visible agronomic trait that provides plants with access to water during critical periods.

Sowing rate and soil requirements:

NATAELO is tolerant of weaker sites and periodically dry soils, including mosaics and sandy soils. The variety's adaptability is supported by the recommended plant density (plants per hectare at harvest) adjusted to the potential of the given site:

Site Grain [pcs/ha]
Weaker 75,000 – 80,000
Medium 80,000 – 85,000
Good 85,000 – 90,000
