Description

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LG BLANDEEN MAIZE VARIETY:

LG BLANDEEN is a modern, three-way maize hybrid (FAO 250), registered in 2023, dedicated to the production of high-quality silage and biogas. This variety, characterised by a tall plant stature, allows for an impressive dry matter yield per hectare combined with very high energy efficiency of the raw material. LG BLANDEEN stands out with its outstanding early vigour and intermediate grain type, close to flint, making it ideal for early sowing conditions. It is also a reliable variety, showing high tolerance to stress conditions, excellent stalk health, lodging resistance, and very good expression of the stay-green trait, which extends the starch accumulation period and improves fibre digestibility.

Advantages of choosing LG BLANDEEN maize seeds:

- Very high energy efficiency: High silage yield with great energy efficiency, crucial for biogas plants and cattle feeding.

- Outstanding early vigour: Rapid and strong start of vegetation, ideal for early sowing and cultivation in cooler spring conditions.

- Stability and stress tolerance: High tolerance to stress conditions and excellent overall plant health.

- Stay-Green effect: Very good expression of the trait ensuring longer greenness retention and better grain filling before harvest.

- High dry matter yield: Achieving high dry matter yield results per hectare.

LG BLANDEEN PARAMETERS AND PURPOSE:

FAO: 250 (medium-early variety).

Grain type: intermediate, close to flint.

Cob type: fix/flex.

Hybrid type: three-way.

Usage direction: silage, biogas.

Number of grain rows: 14–16.

Registration in Poland: 2023.

AGRONOMIC PRACTICES AND CULTIVATION RECOMMENDATIONS:

Agronomic profile:

LG BLANDEEN produces tall plants with excellent stalk health, which translates into high lodging resistance, essential for green mass harvesting. Very good initial vigour allows rapid development of strong biomass. The fix/flex cob type combines yield stability with some flexibility, adapting to environmental conditions. The intermediate/flint grain type supports quick mobilisation of nutrients during growth, characteristic of high-quality silages.

Sowing rate and soil requirements:

This variety is very tolerant to stress conditions, allowing cultivation on poorer and medium sites, as well as utilising potential on good soils. Recommended sowing rates (units per hectare) are optimised to maximise dry matter yield:

Sites Sowing Rate [units/ha]
Poor 80,000
Medium 85,000
Good 90,000
