Description
Dimitra - alfalfa - the most cost-effective source of protein
Advantages of Dimitra mowing alfalfa:
- Ls7 – rapid spring start and late end to vegetation in autumn
- Very good winter hardiness and regeneration ability
- Very fast regrowth after cutting
- High total protein content – average 21%
- Very good tolerance of young seedlings to prolonged spring droughts
- Increased resistance to lodging
- Reduced saponin content
- High resistance to fungal diseases
- Coated seeds with added Rhizobium bacteria
- Intended use: silage, hay, dried fodder
Dimitra mowing alfalfa seeds are characterised by a rapid spring start and a late end to vegetation in autumn (Ls7), which allows an additional cut. This information was obtained from the 2017-2019 study cycle for the fourth cuts.
Additionally, Dimitra alfalfa features very good winter hardiness (confirmed by excellent overwintering in Warmia and Masuria in 2015/16) and regeneration ability. The total protein content in Dimitra alfalfa is high, averaging 21% (the average total protein content of 21% was achieved during the 2017-2019 study years).
Moreover, it regrows very quickly after cutting, and young seedlings show very good tolerance to prolonged spring droughts.
Dimitra alfalfa from these seeds is productive during harvests thanks to its increased resistance to lodging.
Dimitra seeds are coated with added Rhizobium bacteria. These bacteria ensure increased yield by enhancing the intensity of atmospheric nitrogen fixation.
WARNING! – Dimitra alfalfa requires soil with regulated pH – minimum 6.0.
How can I use Dimitra alfalfa?
The intended uses of Dimitra alfalfa seeds are: silage, hay, dried fodder.
Agronomic recommendations for Dimitra alfalfa:
- Optimal pH: 6.0-7.5
- Sowing rate: 25 kg/ha, 30 kg/ha on poor soils
- Row spacing: 10-15 cm
- Sowing depth: 1-2 cm, rolling recommended after sowing
- Sowing time: preferably spring (April/May), summer (June/July). Sow in moist soil at about 8ºC
- First cutting: full bud stage
- Last cutting: early October
- Fertilisation: depending on soil fertility, usually 20 kg N/ha, 60-100 kg P₂O₅/ha and 80-140 K₂O/ha
- Usage type: mowing
- Usage period: perennial
