Grass Regenerating Twój Ogród is a grass seed mix from the Twój Ogród collection. The collections consist of specially selected grass species adapted to Polish climatic conditions. Each mix has been composed to provide maximum effect depending on its intended use.
Grass Seed Regenerating Twój Ogród is intended for the regeneration of all types of lawns to quickly achieve a dense turf. The mix should be sown in home and housing estate areas. It will also work well in gardens and urban greenery. This versatile mix perfectly renews old, damaged lawns. It is well suited for spot repair of damaged lawns caused by factors such as dog urine, mechanical damage, fungal diseases. The appropriately selected composition adapted to national conditions is characterised by good winter hardiness and has no major soil requirements.
Composition of Grass Seed Regenerating Twój Ogród:
- Perennial ryegrass – 70%
A grass with rapid germination and high resistance to intensive use. It forms a dense turf, tolerates periodic water shortages well and promotes rapid lawn thickening. - Westerwolds perennial ryegrass – 25%
A variety with very dynamic growth, ideal for rapid regeneration of losses. It germinates quickly, improving the lawn's aesthetics and strengthening its structure. - Red fescue – 5%
A species with thin, decorative leaves that gives the lawn an even, green appearance. Responsible for the aesthetic effect of a “green carpet” and good turf regeneration.
Recommended period for establishing a lawn from Grass Seed Regenerating Twój Ogród:
Establishing a lawn from the Grass Seed Regenerating Twój Ogród mix:
By following the described guidelines, you will ensure full success and satisfaction with your lawn.
1. Clear the area of stones, leaves, sticks, plants and any debris. The soil pH for grasses should be between 5.5 and 7.0. If the soil is acidic, apply granular lime “Twój Ogród” to raise the soil pH.
IMPORTANT! If you plan to install underground irrigation, electrical systems or drainage, do this at this stage.
2. Dig the soil to spade depth, turning it over thoroughly; if the soil is poor, spread a layer of compost before digging. Level and shape the area, which should be flat; a 1-3% slope is acceptable to facilitate surface water runoff.
IMPORTANT! Finish the lawn edges now; this is the easiest stage to place them in the ground.
3. Level the area with a rake. The seedbed should have no holes or bumps that would hinder later mowing. Firm the soil by treading several times or rolling the surface. Remove visible weeds.
IMPORTANT! If you plan to sow grass before the sowing day, eliminate weeds chemically using the Clover preparation from the “YOUR garden” brand.
4. Just before sowing, lightly loosen the growing medium with a rake, avoiding unevenness. This creates better conditions for seed sowing. Sow the grass on the prepared growing medium (mix the seeds thoroughly for a uniform blend), perform the operation in calm weather. After sowing, cover the seeds with a 1 cm layer of native soil or the ready-to-use universal growing medium “YOUR garden” RUP! Press or roll the covered seeds.
IMPORTANT! The best results come from specialist mixes designed for specific areas and intended use.
5. Water the freshly sown seeds carefully to avoid washing them away. Initially, water the area lightly several times a day, avoiding prolonged waterlogging.
IMPORTANT! Maintain moisture in the upper layer of the growing medium continuously. The species in the mix have varying germination times from 7 to 28 days.
6. Perform the first mowing when the shoots reach 8-12 cm in height. Cut to a height of 5-6 cm.
IMPORTANT! Mow gently the first times, using sharp mower blades to avoid pulling out young, weakly rooted plants.
Lawn mowing depending on air temperature:
- when the temperature is up to 25°C, mow the lawn to 4cm height,
- when the temperature is between 25-30°C, mow the lawn to 6cm height,
- when the temperature exceeds 30°C, do not mow the lawn.
Conditions affecting grass colour:
The lawn should be established on soil with a pH of 5.5-6.5. Too low a pH below 5.5 hinders grass nutrient uptake, tillering and root system development, which affects the appearance and condition of the turf. If the soil is too acidic, the lawn loses its intense colour, starts to yellow, grows poorly and becomes sparse.
Fertilisation affects grass colour. Regular feeding with appropriate fertiliser promotes intense colouring. Water quality, source and biochemical composition also play a role.
