Metarex M 2.5 RB Focus – effective preparation for naked slugs

Metarex M 2.5 RB Focus is a proven slug killer preparation in the form of a granulated bait ready to use, designed for the control of naked slugs and limiting the occurrence of Spanish slugs. The product is intended for use by non-professional users in home gardens and allotments.

The preparation contains metaldehyde 2.5% (25 g/kg) and exhibits stomach and contact action. This means it acts both after the slug consumes the granule and upon contact with the preparation. After ingestion, slugs become immobilised, then paralysed and eliminated due to dehydration of the body.

Effectiveness based on bait and weather resistance

• The granulate contains a substance which studies show is the most willingly eaten food by slugs, making the preparation more attractive to them than cultivated plants.
• Moisture resistant – works when slugs are active.
  The best time to control slugs is humid evenings and mornings – and that is when Metarex M 2.5 RB works best. The granulate does not dissolve immediately in moist soil, so its effect is long-lasting, even after rainfall.

Enhanced safety of use

The preparation has been developed to reduce the risk of accidental ingestion. It contains two substances improving safety of use:

• Repellent deterring dogs and cats – a small amount makes animals uninterested in the granules,

• Bitter Bitrex – prevents accidental ingestion by children.

The use of these substances significantly reduces the risk of accidental poisoning, however the preparation remains toxic to domestic animals and they should be protected from contact with the product.

The preparation is intended for slug control in the cultivation of:

• potato

• cabbage

• cauliflower

• broccoli

• Brussels sprouts

• rutabaga

• lettuce

• spinach

• leaf celery

• The preparation is toxic to domestic animals. Protect domestic animals from contact with the product. It is very dangerous for dogs and other domestic animals. In case of suspected ingestion by animals: contact a veterinarian immediately. Sweep up and remove scattered granules immediately.
• A repeat treatment may be necessary, especially if the granules have been eaten by pests or new pests have appeared.
• To prevent resistance development, use the product alternately with plant protection products from other chemical groups.
• Do not expect sufficient protection against the Spanish slug (Arion vulgaris (synonym Arion lusitanicus)) in every case.
• In cases of heavy slug infestation, repeat treatments are recommended.
• Do not apply in piles or heaps.
• Do not exceed recommended doses.
• Distribute granules evenly over the protected area.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Store the plant protection product:
  − in places or facilities with appropriate measures to prevent environmental contamination and access by unauthorized persons,
  − in original packaging, preventing contact with food, beverages or feed,
  − at temperatures between 0°C and 30°C.
