Description

Obelisk is a selective systemic herbicide that effectively controls monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous weeds in winter wheat, winter triticale and rye crops. The product contains two powerful active substances – iodosulfuron methylsodium and mesosulfuron methyl, which act systemically, effectively eliminating weeds from the first days after application. The product is available in water-dispersible granules (WG), ensuring ease of use and high efficiency.

Advantages of using Obelisk

Obelisk stands out with a number of benefits that make it a reliable solution in crop protection:

  • Effectiveness over a wide temperature range – works even at lower temperatures above 5°C.
  • Precise selective action – effectively controls weeds without negative impact on crops.
  • Long-lasting protection – effectiveness lasts throughout the growing season.
  • No negative impact on succeeding crops – after application, crops such as spring wheat, spring barley, sugar beet and oilseed rape can be grown.
  • Environmentally safe – biodegradability of active substances in soil, minimal risk of phytotoxicity.

Mode of action of Obelisk

Obelisk combines two modes of action that effectively inhibit weed growth. Iodosulfuron methylsodium and mesosulfuron methyl belong to acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors, which disrupt the biosynthesis of amino acids essential for proper plant function. The product is absorbed through weed leaves and transported throughout the plant, causing gradual death.

Visible effects include growth inhibition of weeds within the first days after treatment, appearance of necrotic spots and gradual plant death over 4-6 weeks.

Crops and recommended doses

Obelisk can be used in the following crops:

  • Winter wheat, winter triticale, rye – recommended dose: 0.2–0.4 kg/ha, with higher doses applied in cases of heavy weed infestation. The product is applied in spring, from tillering stage until the second node is at least 2 cm above the first (BBCH 21-32).

To increase the product’s effectiveness, it is recommended to use it with adjuvants from the esterified oil group, e.g. Actirob 842 EC at doses adjusted to the herbicide amount.

The product is applied using field sprayers, with water volumes ranging from 100-400 l/ha, ensuring optimal plant coverage.

Obelisk is a professional herbicide designed for effective cereal weed control, providing long-lasting effects and crop safety. Thanks to its unique formula and precise systemic action, it is an indispensable tool in modern agriculture.

Application and dosage

Crop Weed control How to apply? Dosage When to apply?

Winter wheat, winter triticale, rye

common chickweed, corn poppy, sea mayweed, blackgrass, shepherd's purse, annual meadow-grass, field pansy, Persian speedwell, cleavers, barren brome

Maximum dose for single application: 0.4 kg/ha.
Recommended dose for single application: 0.2–0.4 kg/ha.

Use the higher recommended dose in cases of heavy weed infestation and for more advanced weeds.

The product should be used with an adjuvant to improve spray liquid adhesion:
Obelisk at 0.2 kg/ha + esterified oil group adjuvant at the manufacturer’s recommended dose (e.g. Actirob 842 EC at 0.4 l/ha).
Obelisk at 0.3 kg/ha + esterified oil group adjuvant at the manufacturer’s recommended dose (e.g. Actirob 842 EC at 0.6 l/ha).
Obelisk at 0.4 kg/ha + esterified oil group adjuvant at the manufacturer’s recommended dose (e.g. Actirob 842 EC at 0.8 l/ha).

Recommended water volume: 100-400 l/ha.
Recommended spraying: medium droplet size

Apply in spring from the beginning of tillering, from the stage when the first tiller is visible until the second node is at least 2 cm above the first node
(BBCH 21-32).
