Twój Ogród Universal Grass is a grass seed mix from the Twój Ogród collection. The collections consist of specially selected grass species adapted to Polish climatic conditions. Each mixture has been composed to provide maximum effect depending on its intended use.

Twój Ogród Universal Grass Seeds is the most commonly used mixture with versatile application for home areas, housing estates, as well as gardens and urban greenery. It is distinguished by its universality but is less suitable for sports purposes. It tolerates normal use well and is resistant to trampling. It has a properly selected composition adapted to national conditions. It features good winter hardiness and has no major soil requirements.

Composition of Twój Ogród Universal Grass Seeds:

  • Hybrid ryegrass 20%,
  • Perennial ryegrass 15%,
  • Strong creeping red fescue 40%,
  • Meadow timothy 10%,
  • Red fescue 15%.

Recommended period for establishing a lawn from Twój Ogród Universal Grass seeds:

Establishing a lawn from the Twój Ogród Universal Grass seed mixture:

By following the described guidelines, you will ensure full success and satisfaction with your lawn.

1. Clear the area of stones, leaves, sticks, plants and any debris. The soil pH for grasses should be between 5.5 and 7.0. In case of acidic pH, apply granulated lime "Twój ogród" to raise the soil pH.
IMPORTANT! If you plan to install underground irrigation, electrical or drainage systems, do this at this stage.

2. Dig the soil to spade depth, turning it over thoroughly; if the soil is poor, spread a layer of compost before digging. Level and shape the area, which should be flat; a 1-3% slope is acceptable to facilitate surface water runoff.
IMPORTANT! Finish the lawn edges now, as it is easiest to place them in the soil at this stage.

3. Level the area with a rake. The lawn sowing area should have no holes or bumps that would hinder later mowing. Firm the soil by treading several times or rolling the surface. Remove visible weeds.
IMPORTANT! If you plan to sow grass before the sowing day, eliminate weeds chemically using the Koniczynka preparation from the "TWÓJ ogród" brand.

4. Just before sowing, lightly loosen the growing medium with a rake, avoiding creating unevenness. This will create better conditions for seed sowing. Sow the grass on the prepared growing medium (mix seeds well to obtain a uniform mixture), perform the procedure in calm weather. After sowing, cover the seeds with a 1 cm layer of native soil or ready universal growing medium "TWÓJ ogród" RUP! Press or roll the covered seeds.
IMPORTANT! The best are specialised mixtures intended for specific areas and planned use.

5. Water the freshly sown grass seeds carefully to avoid washing them away. Initially, water the area lightly several times a day, avoiding prolonged waterlogging.
IMPORTANT! Always maintain moisture in the upper layer of the growing medium. The species in the mix have varying germination times from 7 to 28 days.

6. Perform the first mowing when the blades reach 8-12 cm in height. Mow to a height of 5-6 cm.
IMPORTANT! Make the first mowings gently, using sharp mower blades to avoid pulling out young, weakly rooted plants.

Lawn mowing depending on air temperature:

  • when the temperature is up to 25°C, mow the lawn to 4 cm height,
  • when the temperature is between 25-30°C, mow the lawn to 6 cm height,
  • when the temperature exceeds 30°C, do not mow the lawn.

Conditions affecting grass colour:

The lawn should be established on soil with pH 5.5-6.5. Too low soil pH below 5.5 hinders grass nutrient uptake, tillering and root system development, which affects the appearance and condition of the turf. If the growing medium is too acidic, the lawn loses its intense colour and begins to yellow, grows poorly and becomes sparse.

Fertilisation affects grass colour. Regular feeding with appropriate fertiliser promotes intense colouring. The quality of water, its source and biochemical composition also matter.
