Description

MODE OF ACTION OF KABUKI:

Kabuki is a modern contact-action product that penetrates through the green parts of plants and revolutionises the process of preparing potatoes for harvest. The active substance acts as an advanced protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibitor, which drastically increases the plants' sensitivity to light. This causes a strong photodynamic effect: the photosynthesis process is immediately blocked, chlorophyll synthesis ceases, and cell walls and membranes are destroyed. Chlorosis and necrosis appear on the leaves, leading to controlled, efficient drying of the haulm from the growth tips downwards within 1–3 weeks.

The second phase of the product's action brings key economic benefits – it induces complete wilting by irreversibly accelerating the natural ageing of plants. This results in excellent separation of tubers from stolons and much faster and better formation of a strong skin. This directly translates into easier mechanical harvesting, higher commercial yield quality, and minimised losses during digging and storage. Sunny weather and application before noon further enhance and accelerate this effect.

CONTENT OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES:

Ethyl pyraflufen (compound from the phenylpyrazole group) - 26.5 g/l

Advantages of using KABUKI:

  • Perfect harvest preparation: Guarantees effective and uniform drying of above-ground parts as well as underground parts of stems and stolons.
  • Strengthening and protection of the skin: Significantly improves and accelerates the formation of a stable tuber skin, increasing their durability and commercial value.
  • Facilitated mechanical harvesting: Ensures trouble-free, clean separation of tubers from stolons, significantly speeding up fieldwork and reducing harvester workload.
  • Minimisation of yield losses: Protects potatoes from mechanical damage and bruising during harvest, ensuring fewer losses during storage.

Pre-harvest interval:

  • Potatoes – 14 days

KABUKI - SCOPE OF USE, TIMING AND DOSES:

Potato (ware, seed)

Target pests / Purpose of treatment: Desiccation (destruction) of leaves and stems to facilitate harvest and improve the quality and durability of tuber skin.
Maximum / recommended dose: Always use with the addition of a plant-based oil adjuvant containing esterified (e.g. methylated) oil of oilseed rape, e.g. Kabuki Oil at 2.0 l/ha or Toil at 2.0 l/ha:

• Potatoes with less vigorous haulm: Single dose 0.8 l/ha.
• Potatoes with more vigorous haulm (two treatments): First treatment at 0.8 l/ha, and after 7 days the second treatment at 0.8 l/ha. Two treatments are especially recommended for varieties with strong vigour and lush haulm.
• Potatoes with more vigorous haulm (two-stage - mechanical-chemical): First stage – mechanical destruction of haulm, then after one day the second stage – chemical destruction of haulm with Kabuki at 0.8 l/ha.
Application timing: Apply approximately 14–21 days before planned harvest, from the stage when the berries of the first fruit cluster turn brown (BBCH 85). In the case of a two-application strategy, at least one treatment should be done no later than the stage when the berries of the first fruit cluster are wrinkled and seeds have typical colour (BBCH 89) – before leaf yellowing begins. Spraying is recommended before noon or at least 4 hours before dusk on dry plants in full turgor.
Maximum number of treatments: 2 per growing season (interval between treatments: at least 7 days).
Recommended water volume: 250–400 l/ha (fine droplet spraying required to thoroughly cover plant tips).
