Description
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LID 2020C MAIZE VARIETY:
LID2020C is a modern, mid-early grain maize variety, registered in Poland in 2023, representing the innovative Tropical Dent genetic line. It is a single cross hybrid (SC) combining the potential for record yields with cultivation safety. In the COBORU/PZPK 2024 trials, this variety achieved a result of 103% of the standard, confirming its outstanding performance. A distinctive feature of LID 2020C is the strong Stay Green effect, which ensures longer physiological activity of the leaves and better cob nourishment in the final growth phase. Thanks to Tropical Dent genetics, these plants are characterised by very rapid grain drying (DryDown), ensuring low moisture at harvest and significantly improving production profitability by reducing drying costs.
Advantages of choosing LID 2020C maize seeds:
- High and stable yield: The variety has proven its economic value with a 103% standard result in registration trials.
- Tropical Dent genetics: A unique combination of high yield, rapid drying and stability under challenging weather conditions.
- Outstanding health: Low susceptibility to fungal diseases, including very high tolerance to maize smut and fusarium.
- Drying economy: Dent-type grain dries out rapidly, allowing harvest at lower moisture (even 2-3% less than standard).
- Strong Stay Green effect: Maintaining leaf greenness prolongs photosynthesis, resulting in better grain filling and higher yield quality.
LID2020C PARAMETERS AND PURPOSE:
FAO: 240 (mid-early variety).
Grain type: dent (Tropical Dent line).
Hybrid type: single cross (SC).
Use purpose: grain, bioethanol.
MTZ (thousand kernel weight): 340 g.
AGRONOMIC PRACTICES AND CULTIVATION RECOMMENDATIONS:
Agronomic profile of LID 2020C:
LID 2020C features medium-height plants with cobs set at medium height, which supports stand stability and facilitates mechanical harvesting. The cobs are very well filled, with 14 to 16 rows of kernels, each row containing 29 to 31 kernels. The dent-type kernel is large (MTZ 340 g) and loosely arranged at the final maturation stage, which facilitates water release. The variety is distinguished by strong early vigour, allowing a rapid start to vegetation and an "escape" from spring stresses.
Soil requirements and resistance:
This variety performs best on medium and good sites, but thanks to a well-developed root system shows great flexibility and also copes on poorer soils. It is a maize with a heightened resistance profile – showing tolerance to root lodging and lodging before harvest. A particular advantage is very high tolerance to maize smut and tolerance to fusarium of cobs, ensuring high sanitary quality of the harvested raw material. Tropical Dent genetics also provide increased resistance to heat stress and periodic water shortages, which translates into stable yields under Poland’s variable climatic conditions.
