Description

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIZE VARIETY LID 2288C:

LID 2288C is a modern, medium-early grain maize variety that debuted in the Polish register in 2024, bringing new quality thanks to advanced Tropical Dent genetics. This variety was created for farmers seeking stability and economic security, offering a very high yield potential even on weaker and mosaic sites. In post-registration trials by COBORU/PZPK 2024, it achieved an impressive result of 130.2 dt/ha, which is 103% of the standard. A key feature of LID2288C is its exceptional ability to rapidly release moisture from the grain (DryDown), which combined with Tropical Dent genetics allows for moisture content lower by even 2–3% compared to standard varieties. This directly translates into lower drying costs and the possibility of earlier harvest.

Advantages of choosing LID 2288C maize seeds:

- Tropical Dent genetics: A unique combination of high yield potential, rapid drying, and resistance to environmental stresses.

- Outstanding yield on poor soils: The variety adapts excellently to poorer sites, ensuring stable harvests where other varieties fail.

- Drying economy: Very rapid moisture release allows for significant reduction in grain drying costs (lower moisture at harvest).

- Drought resistance: Strong root system and tolerance to heat stress and water deficiency protect the yield in difficult years.

- Versatile use: Excellent raw material both for sale as commodity grain and for bioethanol production.

LID 2288C PARAMETERS AND PURPOSE:

AGRONOMIC PRACTICES AND CULTIVATION RECOMMENDATIONS:

Agronomic profile of LID2288C:

Plants of the LID2288C variety are characterised by medium height and medium-high ear placement, which facilitates mechanical harvesting. The ears are impressive, having 16 to 18 rows of kernels, with 26–28 kernels per row, which combined with a high thousand kernel weight (340 g) builds a high final yield. The variety shows medium initial vigour but compensates in later stages with excellent health and stability. This is a maize with a resistance profile that includes high tolerance to lodging (both root and pre-harvest) and maize smut.

Stress resistance and adaptation:

LID2288C is a variety for special tasks under changing climate conditions. Thanks to its membership in the Tropical Dent group, these hybrids exhibit a strong heterosis effect, manifested by increased resistance to abiotic stresses such as periodic droughts and high temperatures. A well-developed root system allows effective uptake of water and nutrients even on light and permeable soils. It is a choice that ensures crop security, minimising the risk of losses in years with unfavourable weather, while maintaining grain quality parameters ideal for the spirits and feed industries.
