Description
Mertil 600 SC is a selective herbicide, applied to the soil or foliage, available as a concentrated suspension concentrate for dilution with water (SC). The product contains two complementary biologically active substances with different modes of action. Diflufenican is a contact herbicide (with limited translocation within the plant), classified as an inhibitor of carotenoid biosynthesis in weed cells. The absence of these structures causes bleaching of leaf tissues and cell disintegration, which is particularly visible in new tissues. After application, diflufenican remains on the soil surface for a long time, forming a thin layer that acts contact-wise on emerging young, actively growing weeds. Diflufenican provides protection for up to 8 weeks after application. Flufenacet is a systemic herbicide, classified as an inhibitor of long-chain fatty acid synthesis. It is mainly absorbed by roots and partially by the cotyledons of germinating weeds. After application, germinating seedlings lack a waxy cover, making them vulnerable to pathogens and various environmental factors negatively affecting their development. Diflufenican and flufenacet remain active in the soil for many weeks after treatment, maintaining high weed control efficacy also in later periods. Optimal soil moisture favours the high efficacy of the product. The best weed control effect is achieved by applying the product in the early growth stages of weeds, i.e. during their germination or shortly after emergence, at the seedling stage.
Content of active substances:
diflufenican (compound from the phenoxynicotinoanilide group) – 200 g/l (16.5%)
flufenacet (compound from the oxyacetamide group) – 400 g/l (33%)
