Mezoflor 103 SC – effective protection of maize against weeds

Mezoflor 103 SC is a modern selective herbicide with systemic action, intended for use in the cultivation of maize for grain, silage and bioethanol. It contains two active substances – mesotrione (100 g/l) and florasulam (3 g/l) – with different modes of action, providing comprehensive control of a wide spectrum of mono- and dicotyledonous weeds.

The product is a formulation in the form of a water-dilutable suspension concentrate (SC), intended exclusively for professional users.

Active substances and mode of action

• Mesotrione (HRAC group 27) – carotenoid biosynthesis inhibitor, causes chlorophyll degradation resulting in bleaching and death of weed leaves. Absorbed by leaves and roots of weeds, quickly translocates within the plant, leading to growth inhibition.

• Florasulam (HRAC group 2) – acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor, disrupts biosynthesis of amino acids essential for plant growth. Absorbed by weed leaves and translocated to sites of action.

Thanks to the combination of two substances with different modes of action, Mezoflor 103 SC reduces the risk of weed resistance development.

Range of controlled weeds

✅ Sensitive weeds (dose 1.0–1.25 l/ha):
corn chamomile, common chamomile, shepherd's purse, field pennycress, small-flowered yellow cress, field violet, common chickweed, white goosefoot, scentless mayweed (coastal), cleavers, climbing smartweed, volunteer oilseed rape

⚠️ Moderately sensitive weeds:
small geranium, cornflower, one-sided foxtail

❌ Resistant weeds:
one-sided foxtail (at dose 1.0 l/ha) – better control at higher dose (1.25 l/ha)

Additional information

• Pre-harvest interval: Not required (for maize harvest)

• Following crops: After maize harvest, winter cereals, winter oilseed rape, maize, spring wheat and spring barley can be grown.

• Notes: Do not use the product on sweet maize. Temporary bleaching symptoms may appear on maize leaves in case of drought.
