Whitewashing of trunks and thicker branches is carried out from November to April. The lime slurry for whitewashing is prepared by adding from 1 to 3 litres of water per 1 kg of lime. Depending on the amount of slurry needed, add water and lime to achieve a uniform, thick consistency.

• Store lime for whitewashing in non-residential rooms, in original, tightly closed packaging, away from heat sources, foodstuffs, and in places inaccessible to children and unauthorised persons.
• When preparing and applying the lime suspension, avoid dusting, inhalation, and contamination of skin and eyes. Use appropriate personal protective equipment, gloves and safety goggles.
• During whitewashing: wash hands and exposed skin areas before eating, drinking or smoking – also after finishing work.
• The product is harmful if swallowed or in contact with eyes and skin:
  - If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show the product packaging.
  - In case of eye contamination, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, lukewarm water and consult a doctor.
  - If inhaled: move the affected person to fresh air and ensure rest in a position allowing easy breathing and consult a doctor.
  - In case of skin contact: wash with plenty of water and soap and consult a doctor.
