Phytosarcan Sarabia is a fungicide in a water-soluble concentrate form. It acts systemically. For preventive use in the protection of apple trees and pear trees against scab.
The product is intended for use with self-propelled or tractor-mounted orchard sprayers or handheld sprayers.
Phytosarcan - mode of action:
The product exhibits systemic action. It acts immediately by penetrating the plant and circulating with the sap. It protects the entire plant (including new shoots and buds) against apple scab and pear scab.
Rapid absorption and transport within the plant
Phytosarcan easily penetrates plant structures, and its active substance is effectively transported through the vascular bundles. This allows the fungicide to reach areas where infections are barely noticeable or difficult to access by conventional spraying methods.
Protection of new shoots and buds
The systemic action of Phytosarcan plays a key role in protecting young and delicate parts of the plant, such as fresh shoots, buds, and young leaves. The fungicide effectively protects these areas, which is important due to their increased susceptibility to infections.
Stimulation of plant resistance
Phytosarcan activates the plant's natural resistance, enhancing its ability to combat diseases. It acts as a catalyst, intensifying the plant's defensive responses against potential pathogen threats.
Systemic protection against infections
Thanks to its ability to penetrate deep into plant tissue, Phytosarcan provides protection from within. Its systemic action inhibits the development of infections before they become visible on the plant surface. This is a key element of a preventive strategy in plant protection.
The systemic action of the fungicide can compensate for possible imperfections in application technique, such as uneven distribution of the plant protection product. Phytosarcan spreads evenly inside the plant, offsetting these errors.
Compatible action
Phytosarcan easily mixes with other plant protection products, such as those containing captan and dithianon. Combining Phytosarcan with other preparations can increase overall plant protection efficacy or help prevent resistance development.
Residue management
Potassium phosphonate: Maximum residue levels (MRLs) for pome fruits are 150 mg/kg. Use according to the recommended dose and minimum pre-harvest interval (35 days) results in low residues. Early application (BBCH 71) minimises residue amounts.
Phytosarcan fungicide - active substance content:
- potassium phosphonates (compound from the phosphonate group) - 510 g/l (35.11%).
The product contains the active substance potassium phosphonates - a compound from the phosphonate group [according to FRAC classification group P07].
Phytosarcan - controlled fungal diseases:
- Apple scab,
- Pear scab.
Phytosarcan fungicide - use in crops:
- Apple tree,
- Pear tree.
Phytosarcan Sarabia fungicide - pre-harvest interval, prevention period, crop rotation:
Pre-harvest interval - the period from the last application of the product to the day of crop harvest:
- Apple tree, pear tree – 35 days.
Pre-harvest interval for fodder - the period from the last application of the product on plants intended for fodder to the day when animals can be fed with these plants (pre-harvest interval for fodder):
- Not applicable.
Prevention period - the period from product application to the day when people can enter the treated area and animals can be introduced:
- Do not enter until the spray liquid on the plant surface is completely dry.
The period from the last application of the product on plants to the day when succeeding crops can be sown or planted:
- Not applicable.
Phytosarcan for scab - preparation of spray liquid:
Before preparing the spray liquid, accurately determine the required amount. Pour the measured amount of product into the sprayer tank partially filled with water (with the agitator on) and top up with water to the required volume. Spray with the agitator on. After pouring the product into a sprayer tank without a hydraulic agitator, mechanically mix the liquid in the tank. Rinse empty containers three times with water and pour the rinsate into the spray liquid tank. In case of interruptions during spraying, thoroughly mix the spray liquid in the sprayer tank before resuming work.
Phytosarcan plant protection product - usage instructions:
- In case of high disease pressure and unfavourable weather conditions, the product may show moderate efficacy; therefore, it is advisable to use it together with another fungicide recommended for controlling the disease agent and characterised by high efficacy in single application (solo).
- The product at a dose of 1.5 l/ha or 0.96 l/10,000 m2 LWA is recommended only under low disease pressure and favourable weather conditions.
- During application, avoid:
- drift of spray liquid onto neighbouring crops,
- overlapping of spray liquid on treatment strip edges and headlands. - The product contains potassium phosphonates as the active substance [phosphonate compound – according to FRAC classification Group P07 (formerly U33)], whose mode of action, besides direct fungistatic effect on the pathogen (e.g., disrupting phosphate metabolism and inhibiting some enzyme activities), involves inducing resistance reactions in the protected plant. As part of resistance management strategies in pathogen populations, it is recommended to use the product only as part of a protection programme against apple scab or pear scab, which includes fungicides containing active substances from groups other than P07 according to FRAC classification, with different modes of action (alternating or sequential use).
- The recommended dose of the product for pome fruit tree protection refers to the actual sprayed object, i.e., the side surface of the tree row, defined as "leaf wall area" - LWA:
- Leaf wall area [m2/ha] = (2 x height of sprayed tree crown [m]) / row spacing [m]) x 10,000 [m2/ha] - Calculation of the amount of product needed per 1 ha (l/ha) to prepare the spray liquid:
- Amount of product [l/ha] = (recommended dose per leaf wall area [l/10,000 m2] x leaf wall area [m2/ha]) / 10,000 [m2/ha]. - Do not exceed the maximum recommended dose of 2.5 l/ha in apple and pear protection, even if the current leaf wall area (LWA) suggests a need for a higher dose.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Store the plant protection product:
- in original packaging,
- in a way preventing contact with food, beverages or fodder, environmental contamination, and access by unauthorized persons,
- at temperatures between 0°C and 30°C.
