Revysol® – the first triazole with an isopropanol group

In the molecule of the active substance Revysol®, the triazole “head” is located on a flexible “neck” of a narrow isopropanol group. This unique chemical structure allows the molecule to easily adopt different forms – binding or non-binding. When Revysol® settles on the active site of the pathogen’s enzyme, it forms a binding structure that resembles a hook and attaches itself to the enzyme. Revysol® blocks one specific enzyme, C14-demethylase, which plays a role in the production of ergosterol inside the fungal cell. Like other sterols, it is necessary to maintain cell membranes intact. Revysol® blocks ergosterol biosynthesis very effectively, leading to the rupture of cell membranes and consequently to the death of the fungus.
