Description
Stevia
An annual plant with exceptionally sweet leaves, 20 times sweeter than sugar and at the same time containing very few calories. Used as a natural sweetener for sweetening drinks and dishes. Recommended for people with diabetes, hypertension, or simply those watching their figure. Steviol glycosides giving the leaves their sweet taste are resistant to high temperatures, so it can be used for baking and cooking. Stevia grows best in full sun and in a permeable growing medium. Sow seeds from March to May into pots on a windowsill. Do not cover the seeds as light positively affects germination. Stevia can be grown indoors all year round. Transplant to a permanent location in mid-May.
