FEATURES OF THE CUCUMBER STARTER F1 VARIETY:

Starter F1 is a modern field cucumber variety that stands out on the market for its exceptional earliness and excellent commercial fruit quality. The plant produces shapely, elongated cucumbers with an optimal length-to-width ratio of 3.1–3.2 : 1. A key advantage of this variety is the complete absence of bitterness and no tendency to thicken, which means the fruits maintain their ideal, neat shape even with delayed harvesting. The skin has an attractive light green colour with slight grooves and thick, medium-sized but sparsely distributed tubercles, giving them a classic appearance highly desired by processors.

The Starter F1 variety was bred with an emphasis on high plantation health. It shows very high tolerance to downy mildew, allowing for reduced chemical plant protection and ensuring stable yields under challenging weather conditions. This cucumber grows best in warm, sunny locations. It requires fertile, well-drained soil rich in humus and regular irrigation, rewarding optimal agronomy with an even, abundant, and concentrated yield from early harvest.

Advantages of choosing Cucumber Starter F1 seeds:

  • High profit from early harvest: As a very early variety, it allows quick market entry and maximises raw material prices.
  • Ideal shape and no defects: Fruits do not thicken excessively and maintain the 3.1-3.2 : 1 ratio, eliminating sorting losses.
  • Genetic lack of bitterness: Guarantees excellent taste of finished products – pickles and preserved cucumbers.
  • High health status: Strong tolerance to downy mildew reduces the risk of premature plantation decline.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Cucumber Starter F1:

Does Cucumber Starter F1 tend to become bitter during drought?

No, the Starter F1 variety is genetically free of bitterness. This means the fruits retain excellent flavour qualities, but for the highest yield and proper fruit formation, the plant requires regular irrigation.

Why is the Starter F1 variety so valued in processing?

Processors appreciate it for its stable fruit shape (ratio 3.1-3.2 : 1) and complete lack of thickening tendency (so-called "barrelling"). Additionally, the light skin with thick, sparse tubercles makes the cucumbers look very attractive after pickling or preserving and helps maintain the desired crunchiness.
