FEATURES OF THE TRITICALE WINTER FREDRO VARIETY:

Triticale winter FREDRO is one of the most valued varieties on the Polish market, characterised by very high and stable yield across different regions of the country. Its key advantage is earliness – a short growing period allows the plant to optimally develop grain before the onset of summer heat and drought, which is particularly important on poor, water-deficient soil sites. Despite its traditional stem length, this variety shows high lodging resistance at a level of 7.5, significantly facilitating crop management and harvest. It also provides good frost resistance, with a winter hardiness rating of 4.5, allowing safe overwintering.

FREDRO delivers large grain with a high Thousand Grain Weight (TGW) and excellent uniformity, effectively minimising the proportion of screenings in the yield. The increased protein content (rating 6.0) makes this triticale a highly desirable, energy-rich, and structural component of feed. The plants stand out with an excellent health profile, including high resistance to snow mould (8.3) and yellow rust (7.9). Additionally, a high falling number ensures very good resistance to grain sprouting in the ear, preserving feed quality during delayed, rainy harvests.

Advantages of choosing Triticale Winter FREDRO:

  • High feed value: Increased protein content and large, uniform grain provide an excellent raw material for animal feed preparation.
  • Resistance to summer droughts: Early heading and ripening timing allow the plant to escape water deficit, stabilising yield on poorer sites.
  • Flexibility in crop rotation: The variety is well suited to delayed sowing, making it an ideal choice for fields after maize harvest.
  • Strong crop health: Outstanding resistance to snow mould (8.3), yellow rust (7.9), and rhynchosporium (7.9) facilitates fungicide management.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Triticale Winter FREDRO:

Why is FREDRO recommended for poorer soils?

The key to success on poor, permeable soils is the early heading and ripening timing of this variety. The rapid growing cycle allows the plant to develop and fill grain before the most severe summer droughts, stabilising yields under challenging conditions.

Can this variety be sown late, for example after maize?

Yes, triticale FREDRO is very suitable for late sowing, including as a successor crop after maize. However, it is important to remember that in the case of delayed sowing, it is necessary to increase the recommended sowing rate by 10% to compensate for the shorter time available for autumn tillering.
