Description

FEATURES OF THE WINTER WHEAT ESSA VARIETY:

Winter wheat Essa is synonymous with security in cereal cultivation – resistance that provides certainty, and a yield that pays off. Its outstanding tolerance to drought-induced stress and unmatched yield stability were confirmed in rigorous 2-year COBORU registration trials, where it achieved consistent results at 102–104% of the standard. This variety stands out with a very high health profile, particularly with genetic resistance to brown rust. Grain with excellent quality parameters easily qualifies for technological groups E and A, significantly increasing its market value.

Many years of field experience have proven that Essa has fantastic compensatory ability. Reducing the sowing rate does not reduce yield, allowing significant cost optimisation at the plantation establishment stage. Plants reach an average height (approx. 92 cm) and have relatively stiff straw, but due to the very high yield potential, the standard use of growth regulators is recommended. Essa is a wheat that gives the farmer peace of mind and a guarantee of profit.

Advantages of choosing Winter Wheat ESSA:

  • Guarantee of stable profit: Consistent, very high yield (102-104% of COBORU standard) even in years with unfavourable rainfall distribution, thanks to increased drought tolerance.
  • Optimisation of sowing costs: Possibility to use a reduced sowing rate (280-320 seeds/m²) without risk of losses in final yield.
  • High technological quality of grain: Baking quality parameters on the border of elite groups E and A, ensuring trouble-free sales in mills.
  • Solid crop health: Contains a gene conferring resistance to brown rust, and also shows very high resistance to powdery mildew, yellow rust and septoria leaf blotch.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Winter Wheat Essa:

Can Essa wheat be sown at a reduced sowing rate?

Yes, one of the greatest advantages of the Essa variety is its high tillering and compensatory ability. Field experience shows that reducing the sowing rate (to the recommended 280-320 seeds/m²) does not negatively affect the final yield, allowing farmers to significantly reduce seed material purchase costs.

What are the soil requirements and pH tolerance for Essa wheat?

Essa has medium soil requirements and shows good tolerance to soil acidification. This means it can cope on somewhat poorer sites, but to achieve maximum yield potential (for consumption purposes) it is best grown on fertile soils with an optimal pH of 6-7.
